Pompeii

The city of Pompeii is located near Naples, Italy. In AD 79 the eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius destroyed Pompeii and buried it in ash in two days.  It was rediscovered in 1748.  In 1860, Guiseppe Fiorelli took charge of excavations.  He found empty spaces buried in ash where human bodies used to be and put plaster there.  Therefore it created a form of Vesuvius victims.
